Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
We keep cookies to a minimum here, in the same spirit as the ad-free read. There's no advertising network watching you across the web from this site. Below is the honest, short list.
What we set
Essential cookies do the plumbing: they keep you signed in to your Insider account between pages and remember that you've dismissed a notice so it doesn't nag you again. The site can't function as a members' publication without these, so they're always on while you're logged in.
Measurement
We use a light, privacy-respecting count of page views so we know which stories readers actually finish — it helps us commission more of what works. It doesn't build a profile of you, follow you off this site, or attach your reading to your name. If we ever add anything heavier, we'll ask first and update this page.
Fonts and hosting
Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which may set its own technical cookies when your browser fetches them. That's outside our control and governed by Google's own policy, but we chose fonts that load once and cache, to keep those requests rare.
Turning cookies off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings — look under Privacy or Site Settings. Block essential cookies and staying logged in will stop working, which mostly affects members. Clearing cookies signs you out; sign back in and you're fine.
Your consent
Using the site with cookies enabled tells us you're happy with the handful above. Change your mind whenever you like by clearing them in your browser. Anything unclear? Ask at [email protected] and a person will answer.
